6TH VICE-CHANCELLOR’S CALL FOR INNOVATION AWARD

The Vice-Chancellor invites applications from staff and students of Murang’a University of Technology.

This is in line with MUT’s effort to enhance the achievement of the University’s Research, Innovation and Consultancy objectives. Students and staff being the major stakeholders are considered a key component in the University’s mandate to promote innovation.

The objective of the Call is to enhance an Innovative culture in the University, nurturing Innovators with innovations that can be commercialized for the benefit of the society.

Thematic areas for 2023/2024 Call

  1. Climate
  2. Application of information technology in managing emerging
  3. Health, Natural Resources and statistical
  4. Agriculture and improved diet/food production
  5. Language, gender and
  6. Re-engineering business/organizations.

Selected innovations will be supported for;

  1. Intellectual Property Protection – Copyrighfing, trademarking, utility model registration or
  2. Intellectual Property Incubation – Development of commercially viable
  3. Intellectual Property Commercialization- Mass production / Deployment, sales and

Submissions: Innovators are invited to prepare a brief proposal (mcx 5 pages, 1” margins. font 12. Times New Roman, single spaced) with the following areas clearly outlined as indicated below;

  1. Name/ title of the Innovation
  2. Problem/ challenge addressed by the innovation
  3. A description of the prototype developed so far
  4. Target market / beneficiary of the innovation
  5. Additional developments envisaged for the innovation
  6. Evidence ot an indication of plans of plans of the IP Protection
  7. Proposal for commercialization of the Innovation
  8. Work plan for the additional developments and commercialization of the innovation
  9. Budget for the additional developments and commercialization of the

Innovations submission Deadline: Thursday, 28th March, 2024 at 5.00 p.m. late submissions will not be considered.

Applicants should submit a hard copy to the Office of Director, Research, Innovation and Consultancy and a soft copy to the email address: dvcasa@niut.ac.ke and research@mut.ac.ke
