The Ministry of Education in consultation with Education stakeholders made a pronouncement on Thursday,
30th July, 2020 that institutions of learning including universities shall reopen for face-to-face learning in January, 2021. However, the Ministry was categorical that universities should continue offering online learning and examinations but in adherence and observance to academic quality measures set by the Commission for University Education and in line with the health guidelines set by the Ministry of Health to
combat COVID-19 pandemic. Following the pronouncement, the University Senate during its 57th meeting held on 1st September, 2020 approved the continuation of online learning and examinations as the University prepares to open for faceto-face sessions in January, 2021.
Therefore, in this regard, the University Senate wishes to inform all first (2019/2020 cohort), second and third-year students that they shall continue with online learning as per the teaching timetable obtainable from the University website (www.mut.ac.ke). All students in this category are instructed that the deadline for fee payment shall be Wednesday, 30th September, 2020. Students who will not have cleared payment of fees by the indicated date will not be able to access online classes and examinations. Lectures to complete the 2019/2020 academic year shall commence on Monday, 21st September, 2020, and end on Friday, 2nd October, 2020.
