Deputy Vice-Chancellor's Message

Welcome to Murang’a University of Technology (MUT) where we value creativity and innovativeness. The division of Finance and Development endeavors to provide a conducive learning environment to support the University mission of advancing knowledge and learning in Science and Technology through teaching, learning, consultancy, research and innovation for Socio-economic Development. The division of Finance and Development is mandated to manage finance and development activities at the university through development of policies, procedures and systems 

 

to achieve effective, efficient and sound financial management and development to ensure excellence in delivery of servicesto students, staff and relevant stakeholders. Over the last few years, the division has continued to offer financial support for growth and development in the following areas:

  • Development of infrastructure including Hostel, Tuition block, internal road network, completion of the library and refurbishment of the student Clinic. Works for two more Hostels are ongoing while the Science complex will be constructed this financial year.
  • Provision of equipment and materials for learning including acquisition of 41,000 volumes of library books, Work Study program for students, University research grant for innovations, students’ welfare including clubs and sports.
  • Provision of Internet Connectivity facilitating access to information
  • Acquisition of Enterprise Resource Planning software for student information management, Human resource, procurement and Finance management enabling accurate and timely processing of data further optimizing our processes and enhancing efficiency.
  • MUT is certified to ISO 9001:9008 Quality Management Systems with work procedures in place in all departments for increased efficiency leading to improved customer satisfaction. The University QMS is in transition from ISO 9001 version 2008 to 2015
  • Community service and linkages where students connect to the community
  • The University has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Murang’a level five Hospital for comprehensive health care.
  • Development and Marketing of new programs.
