Directorate of Quality Assurance and Performance Management

Dr. Grace Njogu, Ph.D.

Director, Directorate of Quality Assurance and Performance Management

The Directorate of Quality Assurance and Performance Management (DQAPM) implements policies that ensures continuous improvement of academic quality and performance management in line with the Commission for University Education’s standards and guidelines.

In April 2022, the Directorate trained faculty on pedagogy. This was in response to the demands of the new Competency Based Curriculum rolled out by the Ministry of Education. DQAPM continuously monitors the effectiveness of online teaching. Regular updates on online teaching are presented to the university management. Training on virtual teaching are also conducted in collaboration with the Directorate of ICT. This was after some programs were on-boarded on the online platform following the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

The Directorate ensures that that teaching and learning commence on the first week of each semester. Through sensitization and continuous monitoring, this practice has now become a culture at MUT. The administering of Continuous Assessment is also conducted on the third week of every semester. Setting quality exams and providing efficient and effective examination  administration is another strategy undertaken by the Directorate to ensure Quality Education.

The Directorate is aware of the important role stakeholders play in quality education. In view of this, the Directorate conducts graduating students’ satisfaction surveys every year. DQAPM also conducts industrial satisfaction surveys through the students’ alumni office. The surveys help MUT to continuously improve the provision of quality education to students.
