Academic and Student Affairs

Hallo and welcome to Murang’a University of Technology Academic Division. The core business of Murang’a University of Technology is to provide high quality teaching, training and excellent research outcomes useful to humanity. Our vision is to be a leading University of choice that promotes excellence in learning and service delivery. In extrapolating this vision, one of the guiding principles of the institution is to provide world-class education in an atmosphere of academic freedom, civility, social responsiveness, integrity and accountability. 

In this respect, the University  endeavours to develop leaders and professionals through teaching, training, consultancy, research and innovation for socioeconomic development. As a full fledged University, we seek to collaborate with like-minded institutions and organizations, in producing world class graduates that will contribute in addressing development challenges that confront the global world.

The Office of the DVC Academic and Students’ Affairs promotes a great sense of collegiality among various academic units of the University through Deans, Directors, Chairs of Departments, Coordinators and other Staff; in ensuring that Murang’a University delivers her promises of quality service under its core mandate. We seek to ensure that the University’s mission remains vibrant and relevant in the day-to-day experiences of our students, staff and other stakeholders. The Office of DVC (ASA) is charged with the responsibility of providing policy guidelines on teaching, planning, research, development and management of academic programmes, development and design of curricula, ensuring quality instruction and assessment of student, and overseeing the administration of student welfare services among others. Regarding research and extension, the University shall endeavor to built capacity and implement research and extension policy framework, which will fast track establishment of research partnerships with strategic institutions.  
The Office of the Registrar (Academic and Students’ Affairs) is the nerve-centre of coordination of academic activities in the University. Through the oversight of the Office of the DVC (ASA), the Registrar’s office provides services to students such as student records, examinations and their assessment, advice and management of complaints, appeals and discipline. It is further responsible for administration matters related to student enrolment, transfer of units and deferment. Through the Office of Dean of Students, Murang’a University has many opportunities for students to express themselves in other activities in various clubs, sports and games besides academic programmes. Murang’a University is a member of various University sports organizations in which our teams always top. Murang’a University is in the process to equip our new ultra modern library with relevant core text books; electronic E-Books and other soft copy publications are available. Murang’a University has a Town Campuses in the heart of Murang’a Town which caters for evening and weekend students.
Whereas, Murang’a University of Technology was Constituent College of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology; it should be noted that the University is new and; as is the case with other public institutions of higher learning in developing countries, is confronted with several challenges. Thus, we urge all our stakeholders to be actively engaged in providing suggestions that can assist overcome these challenges and improve our overall performance as a tertiary institution. We encourage Students Council particularly to channel freely their suggestions to respective Deans of Schools and the Dean of Students, Chairpersons of Departments, lecturers and administrative staff.
