The Department is guided by the vision, mission and core values of MUT. The Department vision is to provide excellent sports, games and recreation services and it’s mission is to provide facilities and equipment to nurture talents through coaching, training and participation in order to support the University in producing holistic graduates
For physically and emotionally healthy students, MUT has continued to ensure that students participate in co – curricular activities. Games and Sports department endeavors to promote physical and mental fitness of students at the University. Students participate in both outdoor and indoor activities, which include football, volleyball, handball, basketball, hockey, rugby, netball, athletics/field events and in-door games such as badminton, table tennis, karate for both men and ladies. In so doing, the students learn how to utilize time better, especially their free time. Proper utilization of time helps students in academic pursuits and in this way, games and sports makes contribution to bring out a more holistic person.
The department provides trainers sports equipment and facilities to all our teams involved in sports and games. Added to the financial support from the University Management, our teams have excelled in performance both regionally and nationally more so in Kenya Universities’ Sports Association (KUSA) games.
