Website Ranking

The “Webometrics Ranking of World Universities” is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC).

CSIC also plays an important role in the formation of new researchers and technicians in the different aspects of the science and the technology.

The Cybermetrics Lab, part of the CSIC, is devoted to the quantitative analysis of the Internet and Web contents specially those related to the processes of generation and scholarly communication of scientific knowledge. This is a new emerging discipline that has been called Cybermetrics or Webometrics.

The Cybermetrics Lab using quantitative methods has designed and applied indicators that allow us to measure the scientific activity on the Web. The cybermetric indicators are useful to evaluate science and technology and they are the perfect complement to the results obtained with bibliometric methods in scientometric studies.

The specific areas of research include:

  1. Development of Web indicators to be applied on the areas of the Spanish, European, Latinamerican and World R&D
  2. Quantitative studies about the scientific communication through electronic journals and repositories, and the impact of the Open Access initiatives.
  3. Development of indicators about resources in the Society of Information
  4. Indicators and social networks visualization on the Web with friendly, dynamic and interactive graphic interfaces
  5. Desing and evaluation of documental analysis techniques of Web resources
  6. Genre studies applied to the scholar activity on the Web
  7. Development of applied cybermetrics techniques based on the positioning on search engines of Web domains
  8. Analysis of the information usage through Web data mining of log files

JANUARY, 2024 WEBOMETRICS RANKING EDITION

Webometrics ranking is the largest and most trusted academic ranking of Universities and Colleges, covering more than 31,000 Higher Education Institutions worldwide.

The main objective of the ranking is to promote Open Access to the knowledge generated by the University. The Best strategy to improve our rank is to increase quantity and quality of our web contents. Webometrics uses link analysis, to perform comprehensive, deep evaluation of the University global performance, taking into account its activities and outputs and their relevance and impact.

 

The University was ranked position 12 in Kenya in the January, 2024 edition of Webometrics ranking of world’s higher education institutions.

UniRANK – 2023

The university was ranked at position 8 among the Public Universities in Kenya and at position 15 out of 63 Kenyan higher-education institutions.

UniRank published the 2023 Kenyan University Ranking of 63 Kenyan higher-education institutions meeting the following uniRank selection criteria:

  • Being chartered, licensed or accredited by the appropriate Kenyan higher education-related organization
  • Offering at least three-year bachelor’s degrees or postgraduate master’s or doctoral degrees
  • Delivering courses predominantly in a traditional, non-distance education format

UniRank aims to provide a non-academic League Table of the top Kenyan Universities based on valid, unbiased and non-influenceable web metrics provided by independent web intelligence sources rather than data submitted by the Universities themselves.

JANAURY, 2022 WEBOMETRICS RANKING EDITION.

The University was ranked position 10 in Kenya in the January, 2022 edition of Webometrics ranking of world’s higher education institutions. This was an improvement from the previous ranking editions (January 2021 & July 2021) where the University was ranked position 11 in Kenya. Webometrics ranking is the largest and most trusted academic ranking of Universities and Colleges, covering more than 31,000 Higher Education Institutions worldwide.

JULY, 2021 WEBOMETRICS RANKING EDITION.

Webometrics ranking is the largest and most trusted academic ranking of Universities and Colleges, covering more than 31,000 Higher Education Institutions worldwide.

The main objective of the ranking is to promote Open Access to the knowledge generated by the University. The Best strategy to improve our rank is to increase quantity and quality of our web contents. Webometrics uses link analysis, to perform comprehensive, deep evaluation of the University global performance, taking into account its activities and outputs and their relevance and impact.

The University was ranked at position 11 in Kenya in the July, 2021 edition of Webometrics ranking of world’s higher education institutions.  The rankings depend on the independent and scientific exercise performed by the Cybermetrics Lab. Webometric ranking measures visibility, impact, and activity (presence, openness and excellence) of University and College webpages with special emphasis on scientific output.
