The Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) invites suitably qualified nationals of the East African Community (EAC) to apply for Cohort 4 of the EAC Scholarship Programme to pursue two-year Master's studies in an EAC Partner State other than their country of citizenship.
MUT Eligible Master's Programmes
Eligible applicants can apply for the following Master's programmes at Murang'a University of Technology (MUT), Kenya:
Master of Science in Chemistry
Master of Science in Information Technology
Master of Science in Statistics
Master of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Who Can Apply?
- Be citizens of an EAC Partner State: Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania or Uganda.
- Be below 35 years of age at the time of application.
- Apply to study in an EAC Partner State other than their country of citizenship.
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree with at least Second Class Upper Division, Distinction or equivalent.
- Apply for admission to an eligible Master's programme.
- Submit a complete scholarship application within the stipulated period.
Important: Kenyan citizens are not eligible to use the EAC Scholarship to study at MUT because the scholarship requires applicants to study in an EAC Partner State other than their country of citizenship. However, the four MUT programmes are open to eligible nationals of the other EAC Partner States.
Scholarship Package
The two-year scholarship provides:
Full tuition fees
Return economy-class air ticket
EUR 200 arrival allowance
EUR 380 monthly stipend
EUR 650 study-materials allowance
EUR 1,500 study and research allowance
Medical insurance for the duration of the scholarship
Visa/entry fees where applicable
Participation in at least one extracurricular event

How to Apply
Applicants must complete both stages:
Apply for Admission to MUTVisit the University website and apply for admission to one of the four eligible Master's programmes, indicating your intention to apply for the EAC Scholarship Programme.
Apply Separately for the EAC ScholarshipComplete the online EAC Scholarship application form and submit the required supporting documents as prescribed in the call. The scholarship application opens on 20 August 2026.
Applicants may apply for more than one eligible programme and/or university, but each programme requires a separate scholarship application and complete set of supporting documents.

A virtual pre-application information session will be held on:
